I've heard that sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me. Personally, I found out that it just wasn't true, at least not for me. It turned out to be denial or at best a temporary shelter from the pain inflicted by harsh, critical, or downright mean words hurled from an unruly evil full of deadly poison, the tongue.

Bible wisdom tells us in Proverbs 12:18; that when the tongue speaks it can pierce like a sword. Some people use the tongue as an offensive or defensive weapon, Verse 18 also states that the tongue of the wise is health. Two views emerge from this verse, death, or life, the choice is ours. We can kill or heal, destroy or build, pluck up or plant.

God has already given us the best advice concerning the choices we make. Deuteronomy 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life that both thou and thy seed may live,"

God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart. Let us speak words that heal, and words that build, and words that plant good seed into the lives of others, that God may say, Well done thou good and faithful servant."

Our prayer: Lord, I need your strength, your spirit, and your Son, that the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight. In Jesus name Amen.
